Love

                                                            Happy Valentine's Day!!

Hope you have a fun filled, happy, joyful, full of love and candy hearts kind of day.

I love my guy! I am absolutely smitten with this boy. I am thankful and ever so grateful that God chose us for each other. This is our story. God's story. I am reminded on this Valentine's day even with all the mushy cards, box of chocolates, roses, and fun candy heart messages we see everywhere we go.

Dream on Dreamer

And I really am. I think we all are. When we are little girls we dream about that boy we will  marry someday and our fairytale weddings. We dream about a new house, a new job, or whatever it is you think you desire. Dreams to go to college, dreams of a wonderful marriage, perfect little children. I don't know what your dreams are but I do know what mine are and have been..

Dreams can soar like eagles. Dreams can be realities. Dreams can even become nightmares. But it's with these nightmares that shows are real dreams in how we overcome. How do you handle your nightmares? Your Fears? Are you a dreamer like me?

I am feeling overwhelmed tonight with how I have overcome my own nightmares.. And that is HOPE my sweet friends. And lots of it. Hope in GOD. Hope in his might plan not mine. Hope in relationships. Hope is sorrow. Hope in grief. And even hope in MYSELF.

Each day I am faced with trials, fears, and nightmares. Small and Big. BUT I choose Hope today. And my hope for you, whatever trial you may be facing, that you will give it to God and let go.

Every Day. Have Hope. Be strong and courageous in yourself. Be filled with joy in peace so that you may overflow with hope.

Trust Him. Love Him. and if your like me....

Cupcakes + Marshmallows = LOVE

Let me repeat Cupcakes + Marshmallows = LOVE

I am smitten with cupcakes, marshmallows, and of course my Loves. It may be border line an obsession along with cakes, sharpies, scarfs....oh yeah back to cupcakes... Who doesn't? At least I tell  myself everyone else does too. With Valentine's approaching LOVE is in the air. And when I think of Love I think of cupcakes and my kids love marshmallows.  And yes my love for cupcakes follows my sweet sweet family.

Let's talk cupcakes. Yummy! Delicious! Sweet! and Fun! I personally love to make homemade cupcakes and experiment with colors, flavors, and don't forget the sprinkles. After several months of searching for a new cupcake frosting butter cream to be exact, I finally found the one I love. It is so versatile and not to mention scrumptious.

I made cupcakes for my daughter's preschool but only had to take a dozen with out frosting. Oh yeah! Cupcakes for us to make this forsting and make pretty! And the best of all to EAT! Who's with me.  I decided to make this yummy butter cream but I added lemon extract instead of vanilla. I also colored the frosting a pale yellow and we used pink sprinkles, red sugar, and rainbow candy sprinkles to fancy up.

My favorite today soft and chewy pink sprinkles

On to the red sugar crystals

and rainbow sprinkles my kiddos favorite

Here is the awesome butter cream frosting recipe.

Yield: Frosting for 12 cupcakes
Prep Time: 10 min

Ingredients:
3 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter, at room temperature (real butter unsalted)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 to 2 Tablespoons whipping cream

Directions:

1. In a large bowl, with a hand or stand mixer, cream together sugar and butter on low speed. Mix until well blended. Increase speed to medium and beat for another 3 minutes.
2. Add vanilla and cream and continue to beat on medium speed for 1 minute more, adding more cream if needed for desired spreading/piping consistency.
3. Scoop into a piping bag and pipe decoratively onto cupcakes, or spread onto cupcakes as desired.

                             ***************************************************
Now our second love marshmallow pops! We usually put these on sticks but we decided on a cute bag for Valentine's parties. This is super easy and inexpensive. The creativity is endless and the kids can do this too!
We used large marshmallows, pink candy melts, and you know what else.....Sprinkles! Cute and fun little heart sprinkles.

                                                              Aren't these adorable!

I could eat the whole tray! But I shared for goodness sake their for the little ones.

Here is our Valentine's goodies after the kiddos made their bag toppers.

Now bake some cupcakes, whip up some frosting, and dip some marshmallows for your loves!

Hello, My Love!

When I first met my husband I ran right into his arms and our eyes locked, we fell deeply in love, ran off and got married on a deserted island. We drank out of coconuts, that we had to chop down ourselves, eat the fish we caught with our bare hands from the ocean, all the while gazing in each other's eyes......

                                  eeeeerkkkkkkk.............{stop that record from spinning}

Well it wasn't that fairy tale or the bachelor date but it was a fairy tale, a story of our own.

It was love at first sight but more like a Friend's episode! It was two days after Valentine's day, I remember because I was alone, please no sympathetic awwwwhhh necessary, I was enjoying some me time {eating chocolate and watching a love story I am sure), just I as am sure my love was too {insert guy time}. Ok, here's the Friend's episode of our own. We met in the laundry room in the apartment complex we both moved too on the same day. I know I know, you never hear of these stories right?? Ha! Anytime I share how we met, the popular response is oh like meeting in the grocery store. Except we got to see our laundry not the food we buy. It was quite intimidating I tell ya. "Oh please don't see my undies", that was all I was thinking at the time, and "oh my goodness what a hottie".

So we had small talk and learned a little or I should say a lot. You can learn a lot about a person at a laundromat when your watching your clothes spin and spin. Oh and did I mention we were the only ones in there. One of God's divine moments for me.

We talked and talked and finally parted our ways. Only names exchanged, no numbers, but lots of giddy feelings. A few days passed and we saw each other again but now in the fitness center. You know those small fitness centers that are "amenities" with your rent. Hmm, first he sees my undies being laundered and yeah now he gets to see me in tight fitting work out clothes, sweating, and probably some ridiculous looking body moves trying to workout.  God has a sense of humor for a girl who is self conscious I tell ya!

So it is here my dears, he finally asked for my number. And then he called and he took me on our first date. It was all over then friends. I was smitten for this boy and I still am. We may not go to the laundry mat together, work out together, go on first dates anymore but we have lots of other firsts. Until next time my love...

                                                            You had me at HELLO!

                                                                  One of our Firsts
                                                         After a few firsts....and babies..

Now go get smitten with your love!

                                                                  XOXOXOXO~

Spiderman Party

My son turned 5 years old last week. I was planning on posting earlier in the week but it just hasn't happened. He started planning this Superhero Spiderman party 6 months ago. This year we did it a little different than we usually do. We decided to have it at a local gym instead of our home. This is his last year at our Church Preschool/Pre K program and he wanted to invited his close friends too.

I love celebrating birthday parties. Any parties really. I love to plan the party, decorate, cook, and host. My husband doesn't always understand why I love all this but he appreciates it. Even if we have to have a conversation walking out the to door to the party of why I need a cupcake stand and not the box. He's a boy and I am a girl. Need I explain anymore.

So my big five year old decided he wanted Spiderman Cookies, Cupcakes, and marshmallow pops for his class party.
                                                        First up is Spiderman Cookies
These were the hardest one I have done so far. I had icing issues this time and I was just plain tired from our week before when we were sick and playing catch up. But he loved them and said, "Mom, your a good drawer and these are awesome." so that made them the best!

We also did spider web cookies

I also made cupcakes and had custom cupcake toppers and personalized by http://www.etsy.com/shop/LaFeather She customized my files and you just print at home. I wasn't able to use everything at the gym but here is a few.

Yummy Marshmallow Pops to be!

These are some of our favorite treats and so easy to make!

And we can't forget the birthday boy!

Hope you enjoyed our Spiderman Party as much as the birthday boy did! Thanks for looking.

                                                                     Love,
                                                                     Angie
